    The drill pipe is the basic component of the drill string, mainly used for transmitting torque, transporting drilling fluid, and continuously connecting the drill pipe during the drilling process to continuously deepen the depth of the borehole. Drill pipe is the worst condition in drilling operations. In addition to bearing torque, it is also subjected to tensile stress caused by the weight of the drill string itself, which increases as the stress increases.

    Drill pipe is divided into ordinary drill pipe and weighted drill pipe. The common drill pipe is the main component of the drill string, which is connected to the kelly at the top and drill collars at the bottom. Its function is to transmit torque, make the drill bit drill downward, and deepen the borehole.
    Heavyweight drill pipe is a transitional drill string section between ordinary drill pipe and drill collar, which can effectively alleviate the stress concentration in the transitional section during the combination of drill collar and drill pipe, provide weight on bit, and effectively reduce the contact area between the drill string and the borehole wall and the outer diameter wear rate. Weighted drill pipe is mainly used for power transmission in the deflection curvature and horizontal sections of drilling, and its flexibility is used to ensure logging and orientation requirements in drilling.
    But how is the drill pipe made? There are three different types of internal thickening, external thickening, and internal external thickening. After that, multiple intermediate frequency heating was used to exceed the API 5DP index requirements. The entire pipe body was subjected to natural gas stepwise heat treatment, followed by quenching and stepwise tempering of the entire pipe body. An automatic straightening machine was used to straighten the hot pipe body, and friction welding was performed between the drill pipe joint and the pipe body.
